Turkey’s Best-Selling Car Brand Revealed by Official Data
New data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) reveals the best-selling car brand in Turkey and highlights the most popular car brands in the country’s growing auto market.
The latest figures released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have revealed which car brands are the most popular in Turkey. According to the newly published data, Renault ranked first among newly registered passenger cars with a 14.8 percent market share.
Which car brands sell the most in Turkey?
Based on TÜİK statistics, Renault led passenger-car registrations in February. The brand was followed by Toyota and Volkswagen, which ranked second and third respectively.
The distribution of the most-sold car brands in Turkey is as follows:
- Renault: 14.8%
- Toyota: 11%
- Volkswagen: 7.2%
- Hyundai: 5.9%
- Fiat: 5.3%
- Peugeot: 4.8%
- Skoda: 4.7%
- Opel: 4.7%
- TOGG: 4.7%
- Citroën: 4.3%
Other brands included in the statistics are BYD, Chery, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Kia, and Nissan.
Car market shows slight slowdown
According to TÜİK, the number of newly registered vehicles in February declined compared with the previous month. Despite this decrease, the total number of vehicles on Turkish roads continues to grow.
Industry experts attribute the slowdown partly to higher financing costs and limited access to car loans. Nevertheless, demand for affordable vehicles with smaller engine capacities remains relatively strong.
Domestic electric car TOGG appears in the ranking
Turkey’s domestic electric vehicle brand TOGG also attracted attention in the ranking. With a 4.7 percent share of newly registered passenger cars, the brand secured a place among the most preferred car brands in the country.
Turkish car market undergoing change
The Turkish automotive market is currently experiencing a transformation. Growing interest in electric vehicles, the entry of new manufacturers—particularly from China—and the increasing role of local production are intensifying competition in the sector.
Experts expect electric vehicles and new market entrants to gain a larger share of the Turkish automotive market in the coming years.
