Turkey’s Top Taxpayers of 2024 Revealed: Baykar Chairman Selçuk Bayraktar Leads the List

Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of defense company Baykar, has topped Turkey’s 2024 income taxpayers list, paying nearly €58 million. His brother Haluk Bayraktar followed in second place.

According to the Turkish Revenue Administration (GİB), Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of Baykar, ranked first among Turkey’s highest income taxpayers in 2024. Bayraktar paid 2.77 billion Turkish Lira (€57.98 million) in income tax.

His brother, Haluk Bayraktar, CEO of Baykar, secured second place, with a tax contribution of 2.53 billion Lira (€53.06 million).

Other prominent business figures also featured in the top ranks:

  • Mustafa Rahmi Koç (Koç Holding) ranked fourth with 757.8 million Lira.
  • Erman Ilıcak (Rönesans Holding) placed 10th with 372.7 million Lira.
  • Mehmet Ömer Koç came in 12th, paying 356.2 million Lira.

Several high taxpayers chose to remain anonymous.

Istanbul Remains Turkey’s Tax Capital

The regional distribution of the top 100 taxpayers highlights Istanbul as the country’s financial hub, accounting for 75 out of 100 taxpayers. The rest were distributed across Ankara (10), Izmir (6), Gaziantep (5), Eskişehir (2), Bursa (1), and Karabük (1).

On average, Turkish taxpayers declared an income of 274,288 Lira, resulting in an average tax burden of 81,526 Lira for the 2024 fiscal year.
