AI in Logistics: Turkish AI Startup Raises $3.2 Million
Yeşim Çevik | trbusiness.de Germany Representative
Founded in 2025, Munich-based startup 5U AI has raised more than €2.7 million ($3.2 million) in a pre-seed funding round led by London-based venture capital firm Emerge Capital. The investment underscores the growing confidence of international investors in practical AI solutions that address core operational challenges in global logistics. The fresh capital will primarily be used to scale the product platform, expand the team across product development, engineering, operations, sales, and customer success, and drive the European go-to-market program.
Founded by Turkish entrepreneurs Yağız Abik (CEO) and Fehmi Şener, 5U AI develops autonomous AI agents for international freight transport. The technology bridges a critical efficiency gap: it integrates directly into existing Transport Management Systems (TMS) and communication channels like email and messaging apps, taking over time-consuming tasks such as quote generation, freight booking, shipment tracking, invoice reconciliation, data entry, and operational customer correspondence.
A Paradigm Shift: Agentic AI Instead of Simple Chatbots
Despite ongoing digitalization efforts, air, ocean, and road logistics remain heavily reliant on manual processes. Numerous operational decisions are made daily, but their underlying reasoning often gets lost in unorganized inboxes, spreadsheets, or individual employee know-how. As co-founder and CEO Yağız Abik highlights: “Freight forwarding is full of decisions, yet relevant information is still lost in inboxes, spreadsheets, and employees’ heads.”

The Franchise Economy: From Opening Stores to Building Wealth and Enterprise Value
5U AI addresses this issue with a key technological differentiator: rather than relying solely on assist functions or basic chatbots, the platform is built on a multi-agent architecture specifically designed for logistics workflows. These digital employees operate directly within existing freight systems and autonomously execute complex workflows—including exception-heavy processes that traditional automation tools have historically failed to manage.
Instead of replacing existing enterprise software, the platform acts as an intelligent middleware layer. A key added value: each digital worker logs the rationale behind its decisions. Operations teams gain full transparency into which actions were taken and why, preserving valuable enterprise process knowledge over the long term.
Real-World Traction Across European Logistics
Operational adoption proves that this pragmatic approach resonates in the market: the platform is already in active use by European freight forwarders, carriers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers. For instance, logistics provider TCI International Logistics deploys 5U AI’s digital workers to streamline air and ocean freight operations. The target audience includes companies looking to reduce manual administrative overhead, accelerate decision-making, and scale customer service.
Driving Innovation: German-Turkish Synergies
The success of 5U AI highlights a broader, highly positive trend in the European startup ecosystem: the growing influence and active contribution of founders with Turkish roots.

Could Business Model Export Become the Competitive Advantage of the Future? | Analysis
Turkey Now Included in “Made in Europe” Framework
This generation of entrepreneurs combines deep technological excellence with a global mindset for scaling and high adaptability across different markets. They build a strategic bridge between dynamic talent pools, agile product development, and Europe’s established industrial hubs. This significantly boosts Europe’s international competitiveness in a highly competitive global venture capital environment.
AI in the Supply Chain: Empowerment Over Displacement
Logistics is positioned to be one of the primary beneficiaries of the current AI wave. Contrary to widespread concerns, the deployment of AI agents is not about replacing workforce, but about mitigating acute talent shortages. Automating repetitive back-office tasks frees up dispatchers and logistics managers to focus on strategic decisions, exception management, and personal customer relationships.
Early-stage financing rounds of this scale deliver a clear message: investors are actively seeking B2B applications with demonstrable ROI. 5U AI serves as a compelling example of how cross-border founding teams out of Europe can set global industry standards.
